In order to adopt from us, we do require you to live within 3 hours (roughly 175 miles) of Union Grove, WI.
If you rent, you will need approval from your landlord in order to adopt from us. We also verify if you have breed and/or size restrictions.
Any pets that live in your home MUST be up to date on their vaccines. Primarily Rabies and DHPP/FVRCP vaccines.
Any pets that live in your home MUST be spayed and/or neutered. Even if the animal you are interested in is already fixed, this is a requirement.
Take a peek at the animals we have available for adoption and find one you can't live without!
Because all of our animals are in foster homes, you will need to complete an adoption application and be approved in order to meet one of our animals.
We will check to make sure that you do not have any violent charges on your criminal record (felonies), your landlord allows animals, and verify with your vet that current pets are up to date on testing, vaccinations, well exams and preventive medications. We will also send a text message requesting home photos/video as part of our home check. At that time we will also schedule a phone interview.
If your application passes our verification process, you will receive a telephone call for phone interview. During this interview we will ask any questions we may have and clarify application information if we have questions or concerns. If your application is seemingly a good fit for the animal you've applied, your information will then be forwarded to the foster home of that animal. Based on the animal, you may receive an additional phone call from the foster prior to scheduling meet and greet.
If approved, you will receive an approval notification via e-mail. From there you will be contacted by the foster home to schedule a meet and greet. An approved application means that you have passed the initial screening process and may proceed to the following steps. The animal you are interested in may have more than one application and may have already found his/her forever home before you are able to meet. In that case, your application will remain active for 60 days. An approved application is NOT A GUARANTEE that you will be able to adopt the animal you are interested in.
Rescue Outreach, together with the foster home, will decide if you are a good fit for the animal and if the animal is a good fit for you. Please note, adoption will be determined based on the BEST INTEREST of the foster animal. If we do not feel the home will meet the animals needs, you may be asked to check back for a better fit. If we DO feel the animal and home are compatible, adoption is finalized! Finalization will depend on the foster home. Some animals may need more than one meeting to ensure good fit. Adoption may take place the same day as meet and greet, or may be scheduled for another date.
Please note the following will be performed on all animals prior to adoption:
** WE DO NOT ADMINISTER BORDETELLA unless indicated. **
** PLEASE NOTE - puppies and kittens may need to complete vaccination schedule depending on age at time of adoption. As the adopter, it will be your responsibility to establish care with your Veterinarian and complete these vaccinations. **
All breeds are best guess from veterinarian based on physical exam. All animals come from high kill shelters with poor access to resources. Once they arrive to our rescue they are quarantined for health purposes and spoiled in loving foster homes until their forever home is found! Our organization is operated 100% by volunteers who give their time and love out of the goodness of their hearts.
